Video of the Day: Time Inc. envisions the future of magazines
This is just cool. And definitely worth a three minute break in your day.
Enjoy!

Here’s a quick video I did for Bryan Person at LiveWorld when I was at the BlogWorld Expo 2009 (#bwe09). It’s geared mostly at brands curating their streams, but there are some ideas journalists can take away from it, I think.
Enjoy:

I was hanging out with Jon Lansner out at BlogWorld a couple of days ago when we decided to, as an homage to our mutual friend Kevin Sablan, record a podcast in his honor.
We talked lifestreaming and storystreaming, but didn’t make fun of Kevin as much as I would have liked. Go figure.
Kevin: This one is for you.

Here’s a video I did with Geoff Dougherty of Chi-Town Daily News for KnightPulse. Enjoy:

SXSW Interactive was loads of fun, and I was blown away by the number of amazing, intelligent folks at the events.
In the midst of the chaos, I had some time to chat with some students from Texas State University for their project, SXTXState, as they chronicled SXSW. I spoke with graduate student Maira Garcia.
One warning, however: The interview volume is a bit low, so you may have to turn it up a bit.

This isn’t necessarily journalism-related, but you can see where something like this would be helpful. Andrew Ba Tran from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel offers a great video tutorial below. Enjoy.
You can find his full story here.

I recently hosted a panel discussion at the Social Media Jungle at CES2009 about the cross between entrepreneurship and journalism with Etan Horowitz, a tech reporter at the Orlando Sentinel, and Kevin Sablan, head of the Orange County Register’s web task force.
Since Etan posted the video first, I figure I would just use his. And as he points out, the crowd was a non-journalism one. Prolific new and social media thinkers like Jeff Pulver (who hosted the SMJ), Chris Brogan, Dave Taylor and Dean Landsman were in attendance, and they asked some good, tough questions.
(And thanks, Etan, for the poke at the name of the panel. I didn’t know Jeff would end up using my proposal description for the title!)

Our video of the week is from CBS News, about how social media played a big role in getting information out during the terrorist attacks on Mumbai. Included prominently is Gaurav Mishra, who makes some good points about the role of social media in breaking news events.
It’s easy for some to brush off social media as a news tool until big news events happen. Then it’s hard to ignore.

As someone rather famous would say: “And now, for your moment of zen.”
